Veterinary

Dear Client,

This year has brought with it some changes, with Scarvagh Veterinary Clinic being set up as a separate entity from the stud itself. We will be based at Scarvagh providing twenty four hour care and attention to the stud and any horses under its supervision. Your horse's health is a priority at Scarvagh Stud with veterinary care designed to encompass all aspects of your animal's welfare.

The very popular veterinary scheme will still be on offer by Scarvagh Veterinary Clinic. This scheme will incorporate any routine reproductive ultrasound scans over the period of two months or for three consecutive cycles of your mare. It will also include the use of Oxytocin (a drug used to stimulate uterine muscular contraction) and Chorulon (a drug used to induce ovulation), all of which are aimed at optimising your mares fertility.

We have recently finished a new surgical facility which in association with our laboratory and other facilities including intensive care unit (where we can provide 24hr care to any critical care patients), X-ray, ultrasonography and endoscopy provide us with a greater ability to diagnose and treat many difficult conditions on site without the need for referral. The foaling unit will act as our centre for the on call vet as this is more commonly the primary source of an emergency.

Scarvagh Vetereinary Clinic is keen on keeping veterinary expenses to a minimum, so we will be working very closely with the client and the stud to find the best and most affordable treatment option for your horse in the case of any unforeseen problems.

Yours sincerely,
Donncha Houlihan
