Black Sam Bellamy Joins the Roster!!

Posted 16 September 2008

Scarvagh House Stud are delighted to announce the addition of Black Sam Bellamy to the stallion roster for the upcoming 2009 breeding season. Black Sam Bellamy is one of the most exciting young sires in Europe and is sure to further his reputation with the support of Irish and English breeders.

The 9Yr/Old has all the attributes to become a leading sire. A Champion at 3 and 4 yr’s, he was top class over 10-12 Furlongs when trained by the master Mr A.P.O’Brien. His pedigree speaks for itself, by sire of sires Sadler’s Wells out of the great broodmare Urban Sea whom undoubtedly is one of the greatest broodmares of our generation, thus he is a full brother to the Champion Sire Galileo. At 16.22 hh with excellent conformation and a great step, he is siring not only sales horse but also racehorses..

Retired to Stud in 2004 his progeny have taken time to mature, this season however has seen Black Sam sire the winners of 21 races and £215,319 in prize money. In the past three weeks he has produced two Stakes Performers:

· Goathemala (Ger) a 3Yr/old b f ex Global World (Big Shuffle): 2nd in a Gr.3 over 1m3f on the 24/8/2008 and previously 3rd in a Gr.2 over 1m3f on the 15/6/2008.

· Valdino (Ger) a 3 Yr/old b c ex Valdina (Lomitas): Winner on his first Listed event on the 10/8/2008 and subsequently won his second start in Listed company on the 3/9/08 over 1m6f. In two stakes performances he has a combined winning distance of 10 lengths, he is rated 111 and holds favouritism for the German St Leger.

In August & September alone BSB had 7 individual winners from limited runners, including Regisseur in France who won a 3Yr/Old chase in Auteil over 2m 1½ f collecting £18,353 in prize money. He had been placed in his first two starts both of which were over hurdles.

Black Sam Bellamy will be promoted primarily for the Flat and Dual Purpose market, 50% of his nominated mares will be of Flat origin and the remaining 50% will be split equally between Dual purpose and NH.

Scarvagh House would like to thank Gestut Fahrhof for sele;cting us as the stud where Black Sam Bellamy should further his career and look forward to working alongside Fahrhof to ensure Black Sam Bellamy attains the level of success he warrants.

Dr. Andreas Jacobs (Owner/Director of Gestut Fahrhof): “This is a great chance for Black Sam Bellamy, he will get the best opportunities and we expect a book of more than 120 mares. In the past we had a lot of enquiries from Ireland and England and we thought it was the best time to lease Black Sam Bellamy to Ireland. Fährhof will continue to support him and we are looking forward to work closely together with Scarvagh House Stud.”
