Top rated 3yr old in Ireland in 1995. Winner of 2 races and £442,148 over 101/2-12 furlongs.

  • Won Gr.1 Budweiser Irish Derby, Curragh (12f beating DEFINITE ARTICLE (GB) and ANNUS MIRABILIS (FR)).

  • A classic-winning son of In The Wings, Winged Love’s connection to Sadler’s Wells makes him one of best-credentialed young jumping stallions available to European breeders. Standing at16:2hh he will add size and scope to his offspring.
  • Racing for Sheikh Mohammed, Winged Love beat Definite Article in the Irish Derby.Inheriting this stamina, both his flat stakes winners to date, Aolus and Aviane, have been at their best when racing at 10f.
  • Winged Love has had an excellent ’07 with his progeny. Gr.2 winner Macleya trained by Andre Fabre has been a very consistent, high performing filly.
  • There are already some pointers to Winged Love’s affinities. Because he initially stood in Germany, Surumu is a constant theme and has proved an excellent cross.
  • We have made the observation about introducing duplications of Sadler’s Wells, Nureyev, Fairy King, Perugino and Tate Gallery with some of our other stallions and Winged Love is no exception. He already has one stakes performer bred this way, being out of a mare by Magic Mirror, a son of Nureyev, so it would seem this is a good time to continue farming.
  • Like a good many other Northern Dancer-line stallions, Winged Love does not seem to mind doubling up and he has stakes performers out of mares by Royal Academy and Heraldiste.
  • In The Wings and Sadler’s Wells have had good likings with Habitat mares so this is another Northern Dancer horse to be considered. This cross has produced stakes winners Fracas (Gr.2) and Abunawwas (L).
