Won Gr.1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, Ascot (8f beating - BRIEF TRUCE (St. James’s Palace Stakes Gr.1), SELKIRK (multiple Gr winner) and Gr.1 winners ALL AT SEA, SECOND SET, MYSTIKO, MARLNG).

Pedigree

Lahib has been a much underrated sire despite proving himself an excellent racehorse, winning the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (Gr 1).
From 14 crops he has sired a total of 23 stakes winners including two Champions. Racing toughness is a strong trait that Lahib throws as a sire: Super Tassa’s performance in the Yorkshire Oaks (Gr 1) was a victory that showed a fine example of this toughness. Mus-If was a leading 2-year-old in 1998, never finishing out of the first two, with wins including the National Stakes (Gr 1).
Lahib is also a sire who complements the pedigree of the mares sent to him, hence his ability to produce Group One winners over a range of distances.
Lahib was bred by Shadwell and comes from one of their strongest families. Out of the stakes winner Lady Cutlass, he is a half-brother to six stakes-placed horses including Maceo. Lately his family has enjoyed classic success with Haafhd, who now stands at Shadwell himself.
Lahib is a son of Riverman who has shown an affinity for mares carrying Northern Dancer.
Nine of Lahib’s 11 stakes winners are out of mares directly from the Northern Dancer sire line and two of those are by Sadler’s Wells (available through Oscar, Old Vic, Kayf Tara and Dushyantor) and Nureyev.
Lahib’s two non-Northern Dancer line stakes-winners are the Group 3 winners Last Resort - by Final Straw (Thatch) - and Dutch Gold - by Diesis (Sharpen Up) - so there are plenty of options to replicate this pattern. Lahib is noted for throwing very athletic stock with substance and bone and so physical affinity is not a problem.
