Pedigree

  • Generous has always had excellent sire statistics throughout his career, with a high stakes winners to foals ratio and a superior median earnings.
  • His 7.5% Stakes winners / foals and 4% Group winners mark him as a high class and internationally-important sire. His success includes 18 Group or Graded stakes winners worldwide, including: Breeders Cup Turf Fillies & Mares (Gr 1) placed Catella, Oaks (Gr 1) runner-up Bahr, as well as Group/Grade One performers Courteous, Cupid, Erudite, Fahris and Spendent.
  • Generous’s influence and his importance to breeders are growing through his daughters, as he is already broodmare-sire of 2,000 Guineas (Gr 1) and King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Gr 1) winner Golan, who is now marking a mark as a sire himself.
  • Generous is a son of champion sire Caerleon and his dam is a half-sister to the exceptional Trillion, herself the dam of multiple Gr 1 winner and champion Triptych. Generous is a half-brother to five stakes winners including Oaks (Gr 1) winner Imagine, and his pedigree was brought back into the headlines in 2005 through Imagine’s son Horatio Nelson.
  • It is clear from analysis of Generous’s stakes performers that he is a particularly effective stallion on mares from the Nasrullah sire-line. His record with the MILL REEF bloodline has been particularly influential, inproducing Bahr, multiple European and American Gr 2 winner Blueprint, as well as Courteous.
  • Generous is already the broodmare sire of two very high-class colts in Golan, who is by Spectrum [Rainbow Quest-line], and Mark of Esteem’s smart son High Accolade.
  • Another line to note is that of SHARPEN UP. This is the broodmare-sire line of three of Generous’s stakes winners, including Gr 1 winner and Breeders’ Cup placed Catella and Turf Classic Invitational H’cap (Gr 1) placed Fahris.
  • The RAISE A NATIVE broodmare-sire line has produced Generous’s Orchid H’cap (Gr 2) winner Lisieux Rose and New ZealandGroup winner Natural World.
  • AUREOLE’s grandson VAGUELY NOBLE is the broodmare sire of three of Generous’s stakes winners, as well as sire of the second dam of an additional Group winner in Ermino Hawk.
  • SIR GAYLORD and ROBERTO both have daughters that have produced Group winners for Generous, with Windsor Castleand Spendent respectively.
