Pedigree

  • Clerkenwell is a very correct horse with a high-class flat pedigree, making him ideal for producing jumping stock. Coming from a successful family, Clerkenwell himself landed the Tote Ebor Handicap in good style for Sheikh Mohammed.
  • His dam Forlene was the 3rd joint top-rated 2-year-old in Ireland in 1979 and he is the half-brother to two stakes winners in Gloria’s Dancer and Sage Wells. Clerkenwell’s pedigree is packed full of stamina, with his dam being the half-sister to the Irish St Leger winner Dark Lomond.
  • Clerkenwell will suit mares carrying Nureyev (through Zilzal, Spinning World, Rudimentary and others) or Fairy King (through the likes of Turtle Island, Revoque and Victory Note).
  • Clerkenwell’s dam is by Forli, the grandsire of Thatch, a member of the same Rough Shod family as Sadler’s Wells, so it may pay to look at mares with Thatch in their pedigree.
